Tatas Get A Bite Of Apple, Start Manufacturing Iphone In Bengaluru.

In 2017, it was reported that Apple had started manufacturing certain iPhone models in India, specifically the iPhone SE, in an effort to reduce costs and expand its presence in the Indian market. Initially, the manufacturing was done by Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron in a facility in Bengaluru.

In 2019, it was reported that the Tata Group had entered into a partnership with Apple to manufacture some of its devices in India, including the iPhone. The production was said to take place at a plant in Chennai, which would be operated by Tata subsidiary Tata Electronics.

Since then, there have been several reports indicating that the Tata Group is ramping up its manufacturing capabilities for Apple products in India. In December 2020, it was reported that Tata Electronics had started trial production of the iPhone 12 at its Chennai plant. In March 2021, it was reported that the Tata Group had invested around Rs 500 crore to expand its manufacturing facilities for Apple products in India.

If the reports are accurate, this partnership between the Tata Group and Apple could have several benefits for both companies. For Apple, it could help the company reduce its dependence on China as a manufacturing hub and expand its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing smartphone markets. For the Tata Group, it could provide a boost to its electronics manufacturing capabilities and help the company diversify its revenue streams.
