Peeragarhi triple murder investigation in Delhi

Delhi Police have arrested a 72-year-old self-styled godman, identified as Kamruddin alias “Baba”, in connection with the deaths of three people whose bodies were found inside a car on the Peeragarhi flyover, officials said.

The case surfaced on February 8 when the bodies of Randhir, Shiv Naresh Singh and Laxmi Devi, aged 76, 47 and 40, were discovered in a vehicle near the flyover, triggering an investigation that initially examined multiple possibilities before police said they were treating the deaths as murder.

Police allege victims were made to consume a toxic mixture

Investigators allege the accused prepared a mixture containing aluminium phosphide pesticide (commonly referred to as sulphas), sleeping pills and a cold drink, and that the victims were made to consume it, leading to their deaths.

Officers said the suspect was traced and detained after analysing call records, location data and other technical evidence.

“Dhanvarsha” pitch and claims involving a djinn

Police allege Kamruddin targeted people facing financial or personal distress by promising “dhanvarsha”, or sudden wealth, and charging clients for meetings. Investigators said the suspect also made claims involving a “djinn” and described rituals linked to women in a household, according to information shared by police during the probe.

Photos recovered from one victim’s phone are also being examined as part of the investigation, police said.

Trail of cases and financial links under scrutiny

Police said the accused has been linked to multiple cases across states and that verification of alleged confessions and past leads is continuing.

Investigators are also scrutinising his financial transactions, contacts and properties in Uttar Pradesh, and examining whether others assisted him, officials said
